Sergio Busquets became the 37th member of the illustrious band of players who have made 100 or more appearances in the UEFA Champions League when he Barcelona midfielder completed his century as a half-time substitute for Barcelona against Tottenham Hotspur on 11 December.
All of Busquets’s 100 games in this competition have come for Barcelona, joining fellow one-club Blaugrana UEFA Champions League centurions Xavi Hernández, AndrĂ©s Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Carles Puyol and VĂctor ValdĂ©s.
Oddy, the last player to reach 100 was also for Barcelona against Spurs, Gerard Piqué at Wembley on matchday two. Iker Casillas leads the list of centurion players – which recognises overall appearances in the competition from group stage to final – ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, and also on 11 December, the goalkeeper emulated the striker in becoming only the second player to 100 UEFA Champions League wins.
