The Champions League’s greatest ever goalkeepers

Iker Casillas has bowed out of the UEFA Champions League with Porto, and Juventus No1 Gianluigi Buffon has said he will hang up his gloves this summer. It is the twilight of the goalkeeping gods.

The two No1s dominate our all-time list of appearance-makers in the European Cup and UEFA Champions League, but – as UEFA.com discovers – they do not hold a monopoly on UEFA club competition goalkeeping records.

European Cup (ECCC)/UEFA Champions League (UCL) games including qualifying; Totals in brackets is group stage to final only

* clean sheets include partial games: e.g. Lehmann’s in the first 18 minutes of the 2006 UCL final
