Real Madrid want to swoop for Sterling next summer

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard might have been the player most strongly linked with Real Madrid in recent weeks, but the Mirror says the Champions League winners have a new target: Raheem Sterling.

It reports that Manchester City star Sterling is top of the Bernabeu wish list, “as Madrid plan to make a huge splash in the transfer market next summer.”

The England international is in the final two years of his contract with the Premier League champions, with little movement toward a new deal having been made so far.

And the Mirror says Real, encouraged by that, “plan to watch 23-year-old Sterling when England play Spain at Wembley next month and will watch him for the rest of the season.”

It is the second time the La Liga giants have been linked with Sterling, having monitored him before he moved to City from Liverpool in 2015.

Fenerbahce deny interest in Spurs’ Sissoko

What next for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko after Fenerbahce dismissed reports that they were interested in him?

Sissoko, who became Tottenham’s joint-record signing when he joined from Newcastle in 2016, was not in the squad for Monday’s comprehensive 3-0 win at Manchester United and has started only 24 Premier League games since his arrival.

The London Evening Standard reports that Fenerbahce, strongly linked with him, have stressed that they have made no contact with Spurs about a potential switch.

The Sun says Spurs “are refusing to sell Sissoko this month after the Turkish club ruled out a move.”

Liverpool’s Ojo heading for Reims loan

Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo is on the verge of joining French club Reims, back in Ligue 1 after winning promotion, on loan for the season.

The Mirror reports that Ojo is keen on the move after a successful spell on loan at Fulham last season, in which he helped the Londoners return to the Premier League.

It says that the 21-year-old, who has also played for Wolves and Wigan on loan, “feels a season with Reims will help his development” and adds that he is one of a number of squad players likely to leave Anfield in the next few days.

Lazar Markovic and Pedro Chirivella could be on their way to other clubs in Europe on permanent deals, while striker Divock Origi, linked with Borussia Dortmund, is another potential departure.

Tap-ins

— Teenage Arsenal midfielder Reiss Nelson will join Bundesliga club Hoffenheim on a season-long loan after signing a long-term contract in North London, the Mirror says.

It says that agreement over new terms for the 18-year-old has been reached, with coach Unai Emery happy for him to move to Germany on a temporary basis in order to play regular first-team football.

— Swansea could sign Real Madrid striker Dani Gomez on a season-long loan deal, according to the Mail.

Spain Under-19 international Gomez, a prolific scorer for the Madrid Castilla team, could move to the Championship if Madrid get sufficient assurances that he will feature for the Swans on a regular basis.
