Manchester United manager José Mourinho suggested on Friday that Antonio Valencia is currently the best right-back in world football.
It was certainly a bold claim of a player who started life as a winger before gravitating back into defence. “I think he is the best right-back you can have,” Mourinho said of the 31-year-old Ecuadorian. “There is no better right-back in football. It is a privilege for us to have such a good player and such a good man.”
While it’s no secret where Mourinho’s allegiances lie, who do you think are Valencia’s main rivals for the title of ‘Best right-back in football’? These are the names that came to mind, but we want your thoughts too – let us know using #UCL.
Dani Alves (Juventus Brazil)
Héctor Bellerín (Arsenal Spain)
Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid Spain)
Juanfran (Atlético Madrid Spain)
Philipp Lahm (Bayern München)
Kyle Walker (Tottenham England)
