Barcelona bounce back, Bayern stretch their lead

SUNDAY

Sampdoria 0-1 Juventus (Cuadrado 7)
Massimiliano Allegri’s men tightened their hold on top spot with a ninth victory in their last ten Serie A fixtures, Juan Cuadrado heading in the only goal of the game. The Bianconeri will nonetheless be hoping for good news on the fitness of Paulo Dybala, who was forced to leave the action with an apparent thigh injury after 28 minutes.

Atlético Madrid 3-1 Sevilla (Godín 37, Griezmann 61, Koke 77; Correa 85)

Borussia Mönchengladbach 0-1 Bayern München (Müller 63)
Thomas Müller weighed in with only his second league goal this season as Bayern pounced on a loss for closest rivals Leipzig to streak 13 points clear at the summit. The German international marked his 250th Bundesliga outing for the club with a capable finish to end a nine-game drought in the top flight.

Barcelona 4-2 Valencia (Luis Suárez 35, Messi 45pen 52, André Gomes 89; Mangala 29, El Haddadi 45+1)
Lionel Messi took his Liga tally to 25 goals with a pair of efforts as Barcelona recovered from falling behind in an entertaining encounter. A week on from losing to Deportivo, the Blaugrana were helped by a 44th-minute red card for Eliaqium Mangala after the French defender brought down Luis Suárez in the area, Messi converting from the spot for his first goal of the night.
