Jack Wilshere to leave Arsenal on loan? Marcelo Brozovic to Chelsea?

ESPN FC’s Paul Mariner gives his opinion on Arsene Wenger looking to loan out Jack Wilshere.

The summer transfer window is beginning to swing shut. Transfer Talk has its finger on the pulse of the latest gossip ahead of deadline day. Follow our live blog below, and see the latest deals here.

TOP STORY: Wilshere poised for loan departure?

Could Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere be on the verge of leaving the Emirates on loan? The Daily Mail has reported the Gunners are ready to send him out to secure regular football and the claim has since been confirmed to ESPN FC by a source close to the club.

Wilshere, left out of new England manager Sam Allardyce’s first international squad, will be allowed to leave on a temporary basis, given that competition for a central midfield spot is likely to be fierce.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes his injury-hit star would benefit from regular football somewhere else, but that somewhere will not include any club that could rival the Gunners for a place in the top four.

While Wilshere could be heading out of North London, Lucas Perez has just arrived, with Arsenal having completed the signing of the Spanish striker from Deportivo La Coruna.

05.53 BST: Rise and shine! Transfer Talk is kicking off nice and early as we head towards the business end of the transfer window. First up today, sources have told ESPN FC that LA Galaxy star Nigel de Jong is on the brink of joining Galatasaray.

Blues boss banking on Brozovic boost

Antonio Conte has spoken of his frustration with the “difficult” transfer market, but that disgruntlement could be eased by the arrival of Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic at Chelsea.

The Mail reported that the Croatia midfielder is not far from wrapping up a £25 million move, with the path to his exit having been eased by Inter’s £38.4 million acquisition of Joao Mario.

The paper also said Conte is keen to “add more energy” to his midfield ranks as he looks to build on a start that has already brought him three Premier League wins in three matches.

Brozovic, 22, only recently made a permanent move to the San Siro following an 18-month loan spell. He has interested Juventus, “but Inter would rather sell him abroad than to a Serie A rival.”

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror claimed that German club Schalke are interested in a loan move for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, an approach Conte is set to reject.

ESPN FC’s Ross Dyer and Craig Burley discuss the latest transfer rumours, including Fabinho possibly heading to Man United.

Foxes want better deal for “Slim” pickings

Leicester City remain hopeful of signing Islam Slimani from Sporting Lisbon, despite being reluctant to meet the Portuguese club’s asking price of more than £35 million.

Algeria international striker Slimani is understood to be happy to join, and according to the Daily Telegraph, the Premier League champions “are hopeful of agreeing a more realistic deal before the window closes on Wednesday.”

Manager Claudio Ranieri “is prepared to smash the transfer record to sign the 28-year-old,” with talks set to resume Tuesday. The fee for Slimani would quickly eclipse the club-record £15 million spent to bring Ahmed Musa from CSKA Moscow in July.

Wolfsburg make offer for Spurs’ Son

Earlier Monday, Tottenham forward Son Heung-Min said he was in the dark about a potential move to Wolfsburg but added that speculation about his future in North London was “not a good sign.”

Now the Bundesliga club have played their hand, the Mirror reported, submitting a £24 million bid for the South Korea international.

According to the Mirror, Spurs are ready to consider offers for Son, who is also reported to be interesting Leicester and Everton. They have already sold Nacer Chadli to West Bromwich Albion, with Ryan Mason poised for a move to Hull — and now it seems Son could be on his way out of White Hart Lane.

But it isn’t all departures — on Sunday, reports said Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was lining up a move for Real Madrid star Isco on a season-long loan with an option for a permanent deal next summer.

The 24-year-old Spain international has attracted the attention of Chelsea, but Spurs, who can offer him Champions League football, are the current favourites to do a deal.

Tigers roar into transfer action

Hull City manager Mike Phelan has said for a while that the Tigers are in need of new faces, and now they’re on the brink of adding two.

The Guardian and ESPN FC report that Hull are close to sealing a £1 million move for Manchester United striker Will Keane, with whom Phelan worked at Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old, who came through United’s ranks and made a couple first-team appearances last season, has spent loan spells at clubs including Queens Park Rangers and Preston. He could be joined by Derby’s Republic of Ireland international Jeff Hendrick, with talks over a £10 million move for the 24-year-old “understood to be at a fairly advanced stage.”

ESPN FC’s Sid Lowe explains why Barcelona are interested in Paco Alcacer.

Tap-ins

– Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew, who indicated that his transfer window work might not have ended with the purchase of Christian Benteke, is turning his attentions to a new midfielder.

The Mail reported that Palace have made a £6.5 million bid for Genoa midfielder and Venezuela captain Tomas Rincon following the departure of Mile Jedinak to Aston Villa.

– Sunderland winger Jeremain Lens is set to join Turkish club Fenerbahce on loan after failing to hold down a regular place on Wearside since joining from Dynamo Kiev.

The Guardian said Lens is “poised to be reunited with his former manager, Dick Advocaat, in Istanbul.”
