Leicester and Barcelona lose, Atlético stifle Madrid

  • TUESDAY FIRST LEGS

BORUSSIA DORTMUND v MONACO

Bayern 4-1 Dortmund (Ribéry 4, Lewandowski 10 68p, Robben 49; Raphaël Guerreiro 20)
Dortmund missed a chance to overtake third-placed Hoffenheim as they were comfortably defeated in Munich. The only consolation was Raphaël Guerreiro’s blistering volley, but BVB will rue a key passage of play when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was unable to find the net after being sent clear. Instead, Bayern went up the other end to win the penalty which made it 4-1.

Angers 0-1 Monaco (Falcao 61)
Ligue 1 leaders Monaco responded to Nice’s Friday win at LOSC Lille with a victory that took Leonardo Jardim‘s side four points clear, before Paris Saint-Germain cut the gap to three on Sunday. Radamel Falcao, starting for the first time since a hip injury, got his 25th goal of the season with an accurate finish after fine work from Nabil Dirar, but Angers made Monaco sweat as they held on to win.

JUVENTUS v BARCELONA

Juventus 2-0 Chievo (Higuaín 23 84)
Gonzalo Higuaín became the first player to reach 20 Serie A goals in his debut Juventus season since John Charles and Omar Sivori in 1957/58 to produce the club’s 32nd straight home league win. They remain six points ahead of Roma, who prevailed 3-0 at Bologna on Sunday.

Neymar (Barcelona)

Málaga 2-0 Barcelona (Sandro Ramírez 32, Jony 90)
Sandro Ramírez, who left Barcelona in the summer, and ex-Blaugrana trainee Jony proved their former side’s undoing and, to make matters worse, Neymar was sent off in the 62nd minute. Real Madrid’s draw with Atlético opened the door for Barcelona to move level at the top, but defeat left them three points behind after they failed to score in the Liga for the first time since their 0-0 home stalemate with Málaga in November.

  • WEDNESDAY FIRST LEGS

BAYERN MÜNCHEN v REAL MADRID

Bayern 4-1 Dortmund (Ribéry 4, Lewandowski 10 68p, Robben 49; Raphaël Guerreiro 20)
Robert Lewandowski’s double against his former club means he has now scored in seven straight home Bundesliga games for a total of 14 goals as Bayern maintained their ten-point lead over RB Leipzig with only six matches to go. Two early goals ensured Bayern swiftly put their midweek loss to Hoffenheim behind them.

Pepe (Real Madrid)

Real Madrid 1-1 Atlético (Pepe 52; Griezmann 85)
Pepe’s header from a Toni Kroos free-kick ensured Madrid’s run of scoring in consecutive games stretched to 52 games, but Antoine Griezmann’s equaliser could have enabled Barcelona to wipe out the Merengues’ two-point lead at the top; instead, they are now three ahead with a game in hand. Pepe left the pitch early holding his ribs after a collision with Kroos and Madrid later confirmed a fracture.

ATLÉTICO MADRID v LEICESTER CITY

Real Madrid 1-1 Atlético (Pepe 52; Greizmann 85)
Atlético remain ten points adrift of their neighbours but consolidated third place with their late derby point. They needed goalkeeper Jan Oblak in top form to keep the hosts at bay before Ángel Correa’s superb pass set up Griezmann for his 13th club goal of 2017. Atleti are now four games unbeaten away to Real Madrid for the first time.

Everton 4-2 Leicester (Davies 1, Lukaku 23 57, Jagielka 41; Slimani 4, Albrighton 10)
Leicester’s six-game winning run since Craig Shakespeare replaced Claudio Ranieri came to an end in a thrilling encounter on Merseyside. The two teams exchanged early goals and the Foxes went ahead via Marc Albrighton’s first Premier League strike this term, but two-goal Romelu Lukaku soon took over for the hosts.
