Is Portugal international William Carvalho set for a move to Liverpool?

The winter transfer window is now in full swing! As usual, Transfer Talk has its finger on the pulse when it comes to which rumours are picking up steam. Check out all the latest deals here.

TOP STORY: Liverpool turn attention to Carvalho

After tying down Philippe Coutinho to a new long-term contract, in the face of apparent competition from Barcelona, Liverpool are now targeting a new addition to strengthen their ranks — William Carvalho.

The Reds have been eyeing up a move for the Sporting Lisbon midfielder and triggered discussions with the Portuguese club during talks surrounding Lazar Markovic’s loan to Hull City, says A Bola.

Liverpool recalled Markovic from his loan at Sporting to send him to Hull for the rest of the season, but during negotiations to cut short his deal, Carvalho’s name was brought up.

A €30 million offer would be required to secure the Selecao powerhouse’s services — and boost the Reds’ title challenge in the process.

Leon Bailey has been attracting interest from all over Europe, with Hull City the latest to enter the fray for the Genk winger.

Hull move for Genk sensation

Leon Bailey is attracting strong interest from Hull, with the Mail reporting that the Tigers are looking to move quickly to beat off some of Europe’s biggest clubs in a £10.3m swoop.

The Jamaican wide man is also on the radar of Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton after dazzling for Belgian side Genk this term.

The Smurfs want at least £20m, though, after the 19-year-old burst onto the scene with eight goals and 10 assists to also draw attention from Roma, Bayer Leverkusen and Napoli to become one of Europe’s most sought-after teenagers.

Watford striker set for £38m China move

Carlos Tevez could have some new company at Shanghai Shenhua, with the Mirror revealing the Chinese Super League club have offered £38m for the services of Watford’s  Odion Ighalo.

The Nigeria striker has been out of sorts for a year. Managers Quique Sanchez Flores and Walter Mazzarri have both failed to revitalise the 27-year-old.

Having shocked world football by landing Tevez and reportedly making him the world’s highest-paid player at £615,000-per-week, Gus Poyet wants Ighalo too, after a deal failed to materialise last summer.

But Shanghai’s offer still stands, with Hebei China also keen and prepared to offer a staggering £200,000-per-week of their own.

Shaka Hislop and Alexis Nunes assess the latest transfer rumours bubbling during the January window.

Tap-ins

— Marseille have joined the race for Wolfsburg left-back and Swiss international Ricardo Rodriguez, with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that Marseille manager Rudi Garcia could beat out Inter, who have recently been in discussions too.

The Nerazzurri floated the possibility of including Andrea Ranocchia in the deal, but Wolfsburg were not interested. However, the Bundesliga side has received interest from Chelsea, Arsenal and Juventus regarding Rodriguez.

— If Wolfsburg won’t take Ranocchia, then Hull or Swansea will, with the Mirror suggesting the Premier League duo will move for the Italian centre-back.

A bid of around £5m could be enough to secure the 28-year-old, who possesses wonderful ability but has been error-prone throughout his career.

— Toronto striker Sebastian Giovinco could move to China. His agent, Andrea D’Amico, said the former Juventus star has received a huge offer.

D’Amico described it as an “important offer” and confirmed that he would discuss it with TFC in due course.
