REPORTS/FIXTURES

  • Thursday

Wolfsburg 0-2 Lyon
Three-time champions Lyon are in control of this eagerly-anticipated rematch of the 2013 and 2016 finals. Making her competition debut, Alex Morgan came closest for Lyon in the first half as she hit the post with a low shot. But the 62nd-minute breakthrough, when it came, was out of the blue, as Camille Abily’s crossed free-kick from the left flew straight in.

Dzsenifer Marozsán doubled the lead 12 minutes later with a strong shot from just outside the box that gave her Germany team-mate Almuth Schult no chance. Tessa Wullaert’s effort for Wolfsburg was tipped on to the post by Sarah Bouhaddi. And not even the introduction of all-time competition top scorer Anja Mittag could reduce Wolsburg’s arrears for next Wednesday’s Stade de Lyon return, for which Wullaert will be suspended, as the German side aim to avoid a first-ever exit before the semi-finals.

Bayern München 1-0 Paris Saint-Germain
Vivianne Miedema’s goal with 18 minutes left gave Bayern victory in a game the visitors largely dominated. In front of a Bayern record crowd of 7,300, including Carlo Ancelotti, the injury-hit German champions found themselves under pressure from the 2015 finalists and Tinja-Riikka Korpela had to be at her very best in the home goal to deny Paris both before and after Miedema’s strike.

However, it is Bayern who will go into the Parc des Princes return in front after Miedema received the ball on the edge of the area, switched it to her left foot and drove her shot in for her eighth goal of the competition this season, moving her level as top scorer with Zsanett Jakabfi, who missed Wolfsburg’s game injured.

Fortuna Hjørring 0-1 Machester City
Carli Lloyd lived up to her stellar billing on her UEFA competition debut as she headed in on 36 minutes to give City a lead to take back to Manchester next Thursday. Winter signing Lloyd had already gone close in the 21st minute, forcing a save leading to a corner after which Lucy Bronze hit the crossbar.

But FIFA player of the year Lloyd had her goal after Jill Scott broke and found Jane Ross on the left, the Scotland forward’s cross headed in by the United States forward. City pushed for a second after the break but Fortuna kept the deficit to one goal. However, home defender Tamires picked up a booking that rules her out of the second leg.

Rosengård 0-1 Barcelona
Barcelona will have a lead to defend at home next Wednesday as they seek to reach the semi-finals for the first time. They had more than held their own throughout the first half when in added time, with Lotta Schelin down injured for Rosengård, Leila Ouahabi took advantage of confusion in the home box to put the visitors ahead on her 24th birthday.

New Rosengård signing Sanne Troelsgaard Nielsen came on for Schelin but despite having the better of the second haf, and Barcelona’s Andressa Alves going off injured, the Swedish team could not level the game as they seek to avoid a fifth quarter-final exit in six seasons.

  • Semi-final draw (22/23 29/30 April)

Rosengård/Barcelona v Bayern/Paris
Fortuna/Man. City v Wolfsburg/Lyon

  • Final: 1 June, Cardiff City Stadium
