Silverware for Manchester United, goal glut for Lyon

Schalke v Mönchengladbach
Schalke 1-1 Hoffenheim (Schöpf 5; Rudy 79)
There was a distinct hint of déjà vu for Schalke as Alessandro Schöpf scored for the third consecutive match to complete a hat-trick of 1-1 draws for his side. The point lifted the Royal Blues to 12th as they remained unbeaten since 27 January.

Ingolstadt 0-2 Mönchengladbach (Stindl 60, Hahn 90)
Fresh from his treble away to Fiorentina on Thursday, Lars Stindl set Mönchengladbach en route to their fourth success in their last five Bundesliga outings. André Hahn sealed the result in the closing moments with his first top-flight effort since the opening day of the season.

Rostov v Manchester United

Manchester United 3-2 Southampton (Ibrahimović 19 87, Lingard 38; Gabbiadini 45 48)
Zlatan Ibrahimović was the match winner in the English League Cup final as he and manager José Mourinho lifted their first major trophy since joining United last summer. The former Paris Saint-Germain forward set the tone with a fine free-kick and headed in the late decider after Manolo Gabbiadini had rallied an impressive Southampton side.

Lyon v Roma
Lyon 5-0 Metz (Depay 43 52, Balliu og 74, Lacazette 78, Valbuena 90)
The goals keep flowing for Lyon after they found the net for the 20th time in four games in another healthy triumph. Having slotted seven past AZ in midweek, the French side were irrepressible once again, January signing Memphis Depay lighting the way with his first double for the club.

Inter 1-3 Roma (Icardi 81; Nainggolan 12 56, Perotti 85pen)
Radja Nainggolan took the headlines in Milan after giving Roma a platform for victory with just his second two-goal haul as a professional – only a few weeks after grabbing his first against Sampdoria in the Coppa Italia. Diego Perotti then made sure of the outcome, converting from the spot to return the Giallorossi within seven points of Serie A leaders Juventus.

Olympiacos v Beşiktaş
Olympiacos 0-1 Panionios (Fountas 1)
History was made in Greece as Panionios prevailed for the first time in 36 years away to Olympiacos – and the leaders succumbed for the first time at home in the division since December 2014. The surprise outcome cut Olympiacos’s lead to seven points, with the second-placed visitors injecting fresh drama into the title race.

Galatasaray 0-1 Beşiktaş (Anderson Talisca 47)
Beşiktaş cemented top spot in the Turkish Super League thanks to Anderson Talisca’s second goal in his last three appearances. The Black Eagles are four points clear of İstanbul Başakşehir at the summit, and now ten ahead of their hosts.

København v Ajax
Nordsjælland 1-1 København (Marcondes 55; Santander 56)
FCK remain unbeaten in Denmark this term after mustering a rapid response to Emiliano Marcondes’s opening strike. Federico Santander equalised just a minute later with his first goal in eight games as the leaders kept their poise.

Ajax 4-1 Heracles (Dolberg 23, De Ligt 56, Sanchez 60, Traoré 90; Armenteros 25)
Ajax stayed within five points of Dutch frontrunners Feyenoord courtesy of a commanding win at home. On target with the opening strike, Kasper Dolberg moved level with Davy Klaassen as the club’s top Eredivisie scorer on 11 goals in the Amsterdam outfit’s seventh straight league victory.

APOEL v Anderlecht
Apollon 2-0 APOEL (Anton Maglica 43, João Pedro 90)
APOEL are now just three points ahead of Apollon at the head of the standings in Cyprus following their first league defeat in 14 games – a run stretching back to mid-November.

Anderlecht 2-0 Genk (Mbodji 32, Tielemans 50)
Putting Thursday’s 3-1 loss to Zenit behind them, Anderlecht returned level on points with Club Brugge at the head of the Belgian standings. Talented young midfielder Youri Tielemans weighed in with his 12th league strike of the campaign to double his previous best tally – having struck six last season and in 2014/15.

Celta Vigo v Krasnodar
Sporting Gijon 1-1 Celta (Gómez 49pen; Iago 75)
Iago Aspas continued his recent habit of hitting late goals as he salvaged a point for Celta against ten-man Sporting Gijón. Following his 88th-minute effort against Osasuna last weekend and a 90th-minute penalty away to Shakhtar on Thursday, the substitute pounced a quarter of an hour after coming on.

Ural 3-3 Krasnodar (Ural win 4-3 on pens) (Iljin 35, Bicfalvi 53 65; Smolov 2, Claesson 14 33)
Krasnodar let slip a 3-0 lead in the Russian Cup quarter-finals against a Ural side playing their first competitive game of 2017. Worse was to follow as the visitors failed to make their numerical advantage count in extra time – Ural’s Aleksandr Dantsev having been dismissed after 93 minutes – and eventually lost on penalties.

Gent v Genk
Gent 3-1 Mouscron (Kalu 7, Kubo 32, Perbet 52pen; Stojanović 82)
Gent leapfrogged their round of 16 rivals on the domestic stage thanks to their first league win in almost a month. On the scoresheet against Tottenham last time out, Jérémy Perbet rounded off the success from the penalty spot.

Anderlecht 2-0 Genk (Mbodji 32, Tielemans 50)
There was no positive knock-on effect from Genk’s victory against Astra in midweek as the Blauw-Wit suffered a tenth league reverse. They now lie three points outside of Belgium’s championship play-off places in eighth.
