Transfer Rater: Ben Gibson to Arsenal, Andrea Belotti to Manchester United

The latest transfer rumours from around the world.

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today’s top five emerging whispers for the summer. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Ryan Sessegnon to Everton

Everton have emerged as the latest club interested in Fulham’s 16-year-old wonderkid Sessegnon, The Mirror is reporting.

The youngster has scored four and provided two assists from the left-back position so far this season and has put in a number of excellent performances that have attracted the attention of a host of top clubs.

“He is 16, not even nearly 17, has just done his GCSEs and is playing like he has played 100 games,” Fulham captain Tom Cairney said last month. “It does not make sense. He is so fit, has scored four goals — ridiculous from left-back, really,”

Ben Gibson to Arsenal

Arsenal are considering a summer move for Middlesbrough’s 24-year-old defender Gibson, according to The Evening Standard.

Gibson, who can play at either centre-back or left-back, is on the radar of both Manchester City and Chelsea, but the Gunners have expressed an interest in the player.

Despite finding themselves in the bottom three, only Chelsea and Tottenham have conceded fewer than Boro, and Gibson has been key to that this season.

Steve Cook to West Brom

Bournemouth’s 25-year-old defender Cook has emerged as a target for Tony Pulis, the Daily Mail is reporting.

Although the Cherries have struggled defensively this season — Eddie Howe’s side currently have the third worst defensive record in the league — Cook has made more clearances than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues (262), while putting in an excellent performance during their recent 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Pulis thought to view the £7million-rated defender as a potential successor to 37-year-old Gareth McAuley.

Oriol Romeu to Barcelona

Southampton’s defensive midfielder Romeu is in line for a shock return to old club Barcelona in the summer following some excellent performances this season, The Sun claim.

Romeu spent seven years with Barca between 2004 and 2011, but made just one senior appearance before being sold to Chelsea, but the La Liga giants now consider him a potential long-term replacement for 28-year-old Sergio Busquets.

However, the 25-year-old signed a new four-and-a-half year deal in January, and Saints chairman Ralph Krueger recently ruled out selling any of their top players this summer.

Andrea Belotti to Manchester United

Following reports that Antoine Griezmann is set to stay at Atletico Madrid, Manchester United have started to consider other striking options, with Torino’s Belotti high on Jose Mourinho’s list of targets.

Belotti, 23, has been a standout performer for the Serie A side this season, scoring 24 goals in all competitions, including a hat trick in their recent victory over Palermo.

United are thought to want to add two forwards this summer, with Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and Denmark international Kasper Dolberg also targets.
