Transfer Rater: Dele Alli to Manchester United, Robin van Persie to Sao Paulo

The latest transfer rumours from around the world.

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today’s top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for the latest gossip.

Ben Marshall to Wolverhampton Wanderers

New Wolves boss Paul Lambert is hoping to make Blackburn Rovers winger Ben Marshall his first signing, according to The Mirror. Marshall is out of contract next summer, and has been linked with a £1.85 million move. The 25-year old has made 21 appearances for Rovers this season, failing to score but providing one assist. Wolves currently lie in 18th place in England’s second tier, seven points clear of Marshall’s current club.

Jack Grealish to Middlesbrough

Premier League club Middlesbrough are targeting Aston Villa’s 21-year-old starlet Jack Grealish, the Birmingham Mail is reporting. Boro are interested in Grealish as a potential replacement for Gaston Ramirez, after the Uruguayan handed in a transfer request following a bid from Leicester City. The England under-21 international has scored three goals for Vlila this season, and could command a significant transfer fee. However, manager Steve Bruce is keen on Boro striker Jordan Rhodes so a player-plus-cash deal for Grealish might be possible.

Gabriel Obertan to Crystal Palace

Free agent Gabriel Obertan is reportedly of interest to Premier League side Crystal Palace, having been released by Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala. The Frenchman, who signed for Manchester United from Bordeaux in 2009, scored just two Premier League goals in seven seasons with the Red Devils and Newcastle United. If Sam Allardyce does sign the 27-year-old winger it could pave the way for the rumoured return of Andros Townsend to Obertan’s former club, Newcastle.

Robin van Persie to Sao Paulo

Former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has been linked with a shock switch to Brazilian side Sao Paulo, The Sun is reporting. Van Persie hasn’t scored for Fenerbahce since November, and it is reported that the Turkish club, currently fourth in the Super Lig and four points off the Champions’ League spots, are prepared to listen to offers. Should the 33-year old make the switch to South America, he might end up lining up against Didier Drogba, who was offered a contract by Corinthians this week.

Dele Alli to Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur’s standout performer of the season so far, Dele Alli, is being linked with a world record transfer to Manchester United, according to The Sun. The 20-year old has been heavily linked with Real Madrid over the last month but, according to a former colleague of Jorge Mendes, Jose Mourinho has identified Alli as his No. 1 target for the summer transfer window. Vincent Rodriguez, a lawyer and former agent, has also claimed that Spurs would be willing to sell the England midfielder — but only for a world-record £100m fee.
