Second-half goals from David Silva – via the penalty spot – and Gerard Deulofeu made the difference in perhaps the most high-profile game of the night, Spain seeing off France in Paris.
Meanwhile Portugal, who beat Les Bleus in glorious circumstances in the French capital last summer, took the lead against Sweden in Madeira through Cristiano Ronaldo. They subsequently went 2-0 in front but eventually succumbed to two efforts from Viktor Claesson and a late João Cancelo own goal.
