United and Ajax strike blows, Schalke suffer late

SCHALKE v AJAX

Darmstadt 2-1 Schalke (Vrancic 11, Jérôme Gondorf 90+3; Coke 75)
There was late misery for Schalke as Markus Weinzierl’s men slipped to a third defeat in four matches in all competitions following a last-gasp winner for Bundesliga bottom side Darmstadt. The Royal Blues looked good for at least a point when Coke headed in his first goal for the club on 75 minutes, but Thilo Kehrer was dismissed soon after and the hosts had the final word.

Ajax 5-1 Heerenveen (Viergever 24, De Ligt 32, Klaassen 42, Dolberg 68pen, Neres 83; Ghoochanneijhad 8)
Ajax took their tally to 14 goals in their last three Eredivisie outings as they turned on the style to defeat Heerenveen, despite conceding an early opener. Davy Klaassen followed up his double against Schalke with another strike and Kasper Dolberg racked up his 14th in the Dutch top flight this term as the Amsterdam giants stayed within a point of leaders Feyenoord.

GENK v CELTA VIGO

Kortrijk 0-3 Genk (Malinovskiy 34, Colley 66, Kumordzi 77)
Genk picked themselves up after their loss to Celta on Thursday to post a third win from three games in Belgium’s UEFA Europa League play-off Group B. Bennard Kumordzi rounded off the result with his first goal since May 2014.

Granada 0-3 Celta Vigo (Jozabed 23, Díaz 73, Beauvue 76)
A much-changed Celta side handed Tony Adams a miserable start to his reign as Granada coach, grabbing a first win in three Liga outings in the process. Marcelo Díaz’s free-kick for Celta’s second goal was the pick of the bunch, the midfielder registering his first league effort for the Galician club.

MANCHESTER UNITED v ANDERLECHT

Manchester United 2-0 Chelsea (Rashford 7, Herrera 49)
José Mourinho enjoyed a satisfying win against former employers and Premier League leaders Chelsea as Manchester United lifted themselves back up to fifth. Marcus Rashford turned in Ander Herrera’s ball to give the hosts an early lead and the Spanish international added the second himself for his first league effort this term, with Zlatan Ibrahimović starting the game on the bench.

Oostende 0-1 Anderlecht (Hanni 48)
There was a distinct hint of déjà vu for Sofiane Hanni as the attacking midfielder sealed a narrow win for Anderlecht with his first goal since 19 February – when he also found the net away to Oostende. The victory took the Brussels side seven points clear of Club Brugge in the championship play-offs, with their closest rivals visiting Zulte Waregem on Monday.

BEŞIKTAŞ v LYON

Bastia a-a Lyon
With the scoreline goalless, Lyon’s away meeting with Bastia was abandoned at half-time due to crowd disturbances.
