West Ham join race to provide Fabregas escape route
Cesc Fabregas battled hard to win back his place for Chelsea against Arsenal on Saturday evening, but the Spaniard could not produce his best, as the Gunners ran riot in a 3-0 win.
The Mirror suggested that West Ham are monitoring the situation and could plot a January move for the former Barcelona star to inject fresh life and creativity into the Hammers.
Antonio Conte has struggled to find a role for Fabregas that will not expose his side, and their humbling at the hands of Arsenal will only further complicate his dilemma. Should Fabregas be sent quickly back to the bench, the opportunity to move across London in order to play regularly could become enticing.
Lazio raise De Vrij price tag to £50 million
Chelsea’s search for a new defender appears to have reached another dead end, as Lazio have demanded a ludicrous £50 million for Dutch international Stefan De Vrij.
Former target Kalidou Koulibaly slipped through the net this summer and has since signed a new five-year deal with Napoli, with the Blues forced to re-sign David Luiz on deadline day.
The People reported that the Biancocelesti are keen to resist the Blues’ interest in their 24-year-old star, with the £50 million price tag likely to force the Blues to search for another centre-back.
Spurs eye Croatian star Badelj
Tottenham could invest in January by making a move for Fiorentina star Milan Badelj, according to the Sunday People.
The Croatia international, a creative, holding midfielder, could arrive for as little as £7 million to provide an alternative to Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama.
Mauricio Pochettino is looking to add steel to his midfield, with the 27-year-old also said to be a former target of AC Milan.
PSG ready to add blockbuster duo in January
Yaya Toure and Bastian Schweinsteiger have both been frozen out by their respective Manchester clubs, but a fresh start could be imminent, with Paris Saint-Germain lining up bids for the veteran duo, according to the Star.
The pair earn more than £400,000 per week combined, which means City and United could be ready to accept knockdown offers in January.
City are even reported to be ready to accept as little as £1.5 million to rid themselves of the Ivorian, whose agent was involved with Pep Guardiola in a bitter war of words this week.
– Arsenal are the latest club to sniff around Atalanta for Ivorian wonder kid Franck Kessie, according to the Star. Chelsea, Man United and Juventus are also said to be in the hunt for the 19-year-old, who has scored four goals this term for La Dea.
– Lazio are interested in signing Cafu — no, not that one — with the Ludogorets attacker’s agent said to be talking to the Rome-based club.
Jonathan Cafu scored the opener in the Bulgarian side’s 1-1 draw with Basel in the Champions League and could arrive at the Stadio Olimpico in January, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
