James farewells the Bernabeu

AS reports that James Rodriguez waved goodbye to Real Madrid’s fans following his substitution in their La Liga win against Sevilla on Sunday.

The Colombia international added to speculation that he has reached an agreement to join Manchester United this summer by applauding all four sides of the Bernabeu when he was taken off in Los Blancos‘ final home game of the season, a 4-1 victory that left them level on points with Barcelona at the top of La Liga with two games remaining.

Since joining Real from Monaco following the 2014 World Cup, Rodriguez has failed to hold down a regular starting spot under a succession of managers but, with Zinedine Zidane rotating his squad in recent weeks, he has scored seven goals in his last 10 appearances.

Donnarumma to solve City’s keeper woes?

Manchester City are hoping to take advantage of uncertainty over Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future at AC Milan by signing the goalkeeper for a cut-price £20 million fee this summer.

The Sun claims that Donnarumma, who is also a reported target for Manchester United, has only one year left on his current Milan contract and has told friends he is moving to the Premier League.

It is said City will offer wages of £70,000-per-week to secure the 18-year-old’s signing and he will compete with Claudio Bravo for a starting spot in Pep Guardiola’s team next season.

Batshuayi on his way out of the Bridge

Football can be a cruel game sometimes. On Friday night Michy Batshuayi scored the goal that sealed the Premier League title for Chelsea, yet that may not be enough to guarantee him a future at the club beyond the end of the season.

Chelsea could cash in on the 23-year-old Belgium international, according to the Mirror, depending on how successful they are attempting to land other targets including Romelu Lukaku and also whether or not Diego Costa remains at the club.

West Ham, Marseille and Monaco are said to be among the sides vying to take Batshuayi off Chelsea’s hands following a campaign in which he is yet to start a Premier League game.

Antonio Conte has praised Michy Batshuayi after he came on as a substitute to score Chelsea’s title winning goal in a 1-0 win at West Brom.

Tap-ins

– The Guardian claims that Yaya Toure will be offered a new contract at Manchester City after impressing Pep Guardiola, but the club are not sure he will agree to extend his stay into an eighth season.

Toure, who has won two Premier League titles with City, has made 28 appearances this season after beginning the campaign out of favour.

– According to the Daily Mail, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers wants to build on the success he has enjoyed this season by signing Lucas Leiva from Liverpool and Charly Musonda from Chelsea. Lucas will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, while 20-year-old Belgian Musonda could arrive on loan.

Dries Mertens could swap Champions League football with Napoli for a £20m move to West Ham, the Sun reckons.

Mertens, who has caught the eye after scoring 25 goals in 33 Serie A games this season, has previously been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea.
